Matura Agro impact

Our Impact

More Than a Farm.
A Movement.

We measure success in three dimensions: economic transformation, environmental responsibility, and social inclusion. These are not optional extras — they are the architecture of our business model.

Economic Impact

Substituting Imports. Creating Wealth.

₦100B+
Annual livestock feed import value we target to displace
100,000+
Direct and indirect jobs projected at full scale
50 ha
Operational pilot farm proving the commercial model today
2M MT
Annual production target at full scale

Nigeria's livestock industry spends enormous sums importing hay, alfalfa, and feed concentrates that can — and should — be produced domestically. Matura Agro is building the supply infrastructure to make import substitution economically compelling. Every tonne we produce locally is a naira that stays in Nigeria.

Environmental Stewardship

Sustainable Land. Regenerative Practice.

Drought-Tolerant
Crops optimised for northern Nigeria's climate
Soil Health
Rotational cultivation preserving topsoil and microbiology
Water Efficiency
Precision irrigation reducing waste vs. conventional methods
Reduced Overgrazing
Commercial hay supply eases pressure on communal land

Large-scale agriculture done badly destroys land. Done well, it regenerates it. We've made a deliberate commitment to sustainable cultivation practices — because the land we farm today is the asset that every future harvest depends on. Our agronomic approach treats soil as a long-term investment, not a short-term input.

Social Inclusion

Community as a Core Stakeholder.

Youth Employment
Training and hiring young people from surrounding communities
Women's Income
Women-led collection and processing in the supply chain
Local Farmers
Outgrower programme bringing grassland farmers into value chain
Community First
Partnership model that prioritises local communities

We believe that an agribusiness that doesn't uplift the community it operates in is missing both a moral and a commercial opportunity. Our community integration model ensures that the economic value generated by our operations flows back to the people whose land and labour make it possible.

People First

Farming That Uplifts Communities

Behind every bale of hay is a network of people — farmers, youth workers, women processors, and community leaders — who are the true engine of what we're building.

A Transformation Story

From the Okada to
Pivot irrigation operator

Salisu was a commercial motorcycle rider — an okada operator — navigating the unforgiving heat of northern Nigeria, earning just enough to get by. When Matura Agro established operations near his community, he joined as a general labourer with no agricultural experience.

Today, Salisu manages the irrigation control system for a 50-hectare field, reads soil moisture data from a field tablet every morning, and coordinates with the agronomist on daily cultivation decisions. TVC News documented his story in their coverage of the Matura Agro pilot farm — a story they called “proof that precision agriculture can transform lives, not just landscapes.”

“Before this, I didn't know anything about center pivots. Now I operate and run the irrigation for the whole farm. Matura gave me a skill that nobody can take from me.”

From the Ground Up

I have been farming grass for decades. Now I sell it to Matura and my income is stable. My children are also working. This is something new for us.

Local Grass Farmer

Northern Nigeria

Before Matura, I didn't know anything about feed quality or nutrition data. Now I read numbers off a tablet and report to the agronomist. I run the irrigation schedule. It changed what I thought was possible for me.
